We love hearing about up and coming designers and this is surely our favorite in past weeks! Mark T. Burke, who worked shortly with Philip Treacy and has multiple design awards under his belt at age 24, is our new favorite designer. Out of West Ireland, he crafts each hat by hand, no glue, no sewing machines and works intently on each for up to 12 hours! Read on to find out more about this intriguing young man and his passion.
HAT OF THE WEEK!
This weeks hat pick comes from Vivien Sheriff.
Vivien is an accomplished designer from England. Her styles have adorned the heads of the most attendees at the royal wedding. Kate and Pippa Middleton are personal customers of the acclaimed designer. Her workspace is located in the English countryside just miles outside of London. Her and her staff of just a handful of women, have converted an old barn into the studio that makes some of the most exquisite millinery creations in England!
Metro is a unique fascinator completely handmade with feathers and straw. A sinamay base rests on the head with a headband and added support from a hair comb. Black & white feathers are each hand laid, one by one, in a spiral rotation from the edges in. The odd conical shape flips in the back for added drama. The fascinator is finished with a spray of various black and white feathers. Stop by our website today to see this and more!
The “Belle of the Ball” at this years Kentucky Derby is our customer, Marina! She is breathtaking in this Vivien Sheriff creation all the way from England. Dressage is a masterpiece of a hat and Marina wore it so well. What a pleasure working with you, and thank you for your support.
